SUSTAINABILITY AGENDA

This event’s goal is to bring together bikers and stakeholders in different sectors related to the tourism industry from across East Africa and the world at large while promoting social, economic and environmental sustainability of Hell’s Gate and its environs whilst increasing the awareness of Hell’s Gate National Park as the best biking and camping destination.
‘Respect Nature & Communities’ is the expression of the fundamental values of the Hell’s Gate Biking Fest. Our national park, plants and animals are our national heritage and mark our nature. Only together can we preserve our heritage, including by separating our waste and disposing of it accordingly.
We ask your understanding that our national parks are plastic free and therefore we highly recommend you carry with you a reusable water bottle. We would also like to ask you to only dispose rubbish in the relevant bins at the event venue.
At the Hell’s Gate Biking Fest, our sustainability efforts extend far beyond the festival weekend. We are committed to enhancing the overall visitor experience within the park. In partnership with the Kenya Wildlife Service and potential partners like you, we aim to raise funds to erect informative and directional signages inside the Park under our Beyond the Finish Line Initiative. These signs will guide visitors to key attractions enhancing their experience and promoting responsible tourism within the park. Partners have the opportunity to co-brand on these long-term signages ensuring long-term visibility to thousands of both local and international visitors in the park.
We love working with local communities. This is why through our Empower the Locals Initiative, we partner with the Hells Gate Community Tour Guides Association, a local group, for the provision of bicycles for hire to the participants. Additionally, selected vendors from the local community are engaged at The Festival Village to promote their businesses
Are you inspired to lead a sustainable life? We have Educational Workshops in collaboration with KWS & other partners, on topics such as sustainable living, wildlife conservation, and climate change to raise your awareness about environmental issues, and how you can make a difference
Through a partnership with Nakuru County Government, we have conducted an Environmental Impact Assessment to ensure that there will be minimal impact from the activities of Hell’s Gate Biking Fest on the park’s environment.
